All Human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood." -United Nations, Charter, 1945
North Korea's Human Rights Violation
Under the extreme authoritarian rule of Kim Jong-un, North Korean citizens are deprived of their human rights. Many of them are sent to prison camps around the country. There, they experience “extermination, murder, enslavement, torture, imprisonment, rape, forced abortion, famine, and other sexual violence” (Human Rights Watch). Even though Kim Jong-un denies any of these accusations, strong evidence and witnesses have been found to prove otherwise. The best solution is for the UN should send Kim Jong-un to the International Crime Court for crimes against human rights and allow human rights organizations should be allowed to investigate North Korea and shut down these inhumane prison camps. |
